The Pottsville Area School District Business Office's primary focus is to support the District's mission statement by providing the school community with consistent superior service, fiscal accountability, timely reporting, honest and ethical business practices, positive relationships with vendors and creditors, and sound financial policies that effectively manage the tax payer's dollar and promote long-term fiscal stability.  Specifically, the office staff members handle the accounting, payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and purchasing functions.  These departments are beneficial to the success of student learning through the processing and monitoring of all revenue and expenditures, which also serves as a catalyst for protecting the fiscal integrity of all district resources.

Overall, the most important function is the preparation and enforcement of the District's annual general fund budget. The total revenue is comprised of local, state and federal funds.  These revenues are used for financing the current, normal and recurring operation of the school district. The budget provides the Board, administration, and managers with necessary funding to maintain operations for the next fiscal year.  Appropriate budget planning requires careful analysis of historical experience; future needs, inflation and enrollment projections. We establish basic parameters to collect and identify information at specific levels and use a conventional budgeting process based on prior years’ funding, historical cost and enrollment data.
