Clearances
On Wednesday, July 1, 2015, Governor Wolf signed House Bill 1276, now Act 15 of 2015. The Act makes changes to the CPSL, as amended last year. Many of the changes are applicable to volunteers; however, there are a few changes applicable to employees. The amendment:
• Added definitions for “direct volunteer contact,” “immediate vicinity,” and “routine interaction”
• Waived fees for state criminal history checks and child abuse clearances for volunteers
• Extended time period to obtain new certifications (previously called “clearances”) from thirty-six (36) months to sixty (60) months
A document containing a summary of the changes is available here.
