NOTICE

The Pottsville Area School District is accepting applications to fill an appointed School Board Member seat for the term December 17, 2025 to December 1, 2027.

Responsibilities

Board members set district policy, approve the annual budget, hire and evaluate the superintendent, oversee curriculum and student welfare, and maintain public accountability for the effective operation of the school district.

Qualifications

To qualify for election or appointment to a school board office, candidates must meet the following requirements. They must be at least 18 years old on the date of the November municipal election. They must demonstrate good moral character and have been a resident of the school district for at least one year before the November municipal election, or before appointment if seeking an appointment. Candidates must also have a clean criminal record, meaning no felony convictions and no misdemeanor convictions related to dishonesty or moral turpitude.

Application window: December 5, 2025 to December 12, 2025

Submission Requirements

• Letter of interest outlining qualifications and vision
• Current resume or professional biography
• Either at least 10 petition signatures from district residents or at least two letters of recommendation
• Proof of residency within the district

Selection Process and Timeline

• Applications due: December 12, 2025
• Candidate interviews: December 17, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
• Board appointment: December 17, 2025 at 7:00 p.m.
• Term of office: December 17, 2025 to December 1, 2027
